New Mainspring® Xtra insecticide from Syngenta offers expanded insect control for ornamental cropsThe latest insect control innovation from Syngenta, Mainspring® Xtra insecticide, is now available for use in greenhouses, nurseries and ornamental landscapes. Mainspring Xtra is powered by two modes of action, featuring the active ingredients cyantraniliprole, which delivers broad-spectrum, residual control of chewing and sucking insects like thrips, aphids and caterpillars, and thiamethoxam, which provides fast knockdown of hard-to-control insects like whiteflies and leafminers.“Delivering the same amount of cyantraniliprole per ounce as Mainspring GNL, Mainspring Xtra is ideal for growers who want to not only prevent insect populations before they build but also quickly knock down existing insects,” said Carson Cashwell, market manager for ornamentals for Syngenta Professional Solutions. “This product brings growers a lot of flexibility and value, especially when purchased as part of the Double Up Bonus during the GreenTrust® 365 Early Order Period and with its 17% volume discount.”Mainspring Xtra can be applied by spray, drench, cold fog and chemigation using low-use rates. In addition to the residual performance of cyantraniliprole and the fast-acting, systemic nature of thiamethoxam, applications of Mainspring Xtra can also increase plant vigor because of the patented Thiamethoxam Vigor Effect. Research has shown that thiamethoxam leads to enhanced root mass when compared to untreated plants and improves overall plant quality by strengthening stems and producing greener plants. In addition to traditional ornamental, tree and shrub crops, Mainspring Xtra is also labeled for use on non-bearing fruit and nut trees as well as vegetable transplants grown for resale to consumers.“One of the main differences between Mainspring GNL and Mainspring Xtra is the addition of edibles to the Mainspring Xtra label,” explained Laurie Riggs, insecticide brand manager for Syngenta Professional Solutions. “This gives ornamental growers one product they can use for insect control across all the crops in their operation.”Read more: https://lnkd.in/dexXnNaQ

FMC Corporation Submits Regulatory Applications in Eight Countries for Dodhylex™ ActiveFMC Corporation (NYSE: FMC), a leading agricultural sciences company, recently submitted regulatory applications for Dodhylex™ active herbicide in eight rice-growing countries. Registration dossiers were submitted in India, Brazil, the Philippines, the United States, Colombia, South Korea, Peru and Taiwan, which account for approximately 35% of the estimated 165 million hectares of planted rice globally. Regulatory submissions for Dodhylex™ active are planned in additional key global markets.Dodhylex™ active, FMC’s brand name for tetflupyrolimet, has been classified by the Herbicide Resistance Action Committee (HRAC) and the Weed Science Society of America (WSSA) as a Group 28 herbicide, making it the first new mode of action herbicide globally in over three decades. Dodhylex™ active will be an important new rotational tool for growers to manage herbicide resistance, which poses an increasing challenge for growers worldwide.“Dodhylex™ active is a significant advancement for the agriculture industry as it will help combat resistant grass weeds,” said Dr. Seva Rostovtsev, FMC executive vice president and chief technology officer. “This is particularly remarkable because rice is a grass, and controlling grass weeds in a grass crop is challenging.”Studies show this proprietary molecule will offer season-long control of resistant grass weeds in rice, regardless of the cultivation method. FMC Corporation continues to research theuse of Dodhylex™ active in additional crops, including sugarcane, wheat, soybean and corn.“Dodhylex™ active is one of many new active ingredients in our robust development pipeline that will contribute to FMC’s near and long-term growth,” said Brian P. Angeli, FMC executive vice president and chief marketing officer. “There are opportunities to control resistant grass weeds in other crops, and we are exploring additional markets for Dodhylex™ active outside of rice. We believe this will expand our global addressable market in the future.”Read more: https://lnkd.in/d5EnNRwp

Corteva-Bunge-Chevron Winter Canola Program in the Mid-South Achieves Successful HarvestAs Mid-South farmers completed their first winter canola harvest this summer, Corteva Agriscience, along with partner Bunge Chevron Ag Renewables LLC, is pleased to share initial results from the pilot program: Pioneer®brand winter canola hybrids exceeded initial expectations with an average yield of 54 bu/A across 13 farms in western Kentucky and western Tennessee.1Based on university trials, yield results of 45 to 55 bu/A is a common target for the crop.“We couldn’t have asked for better results for our first harvest of winter canola,” said Chad Berghoefer, Corteva Agriscience Global Product Director, Biofuels. “We are very pleased with these yield results – as well as the excellent grain quality – and look forward to more farmers participating in the program next year.”Pioneer’s long-standing canola breeding program has developed proprietary winter canola hybrids well adapted to perform in the southern U.S. and serve as a new alternative for winter crop rotations. With elite genetics powered by Pioneer®, farmers can expect high yield potential and consistent oil content across a wide range of growing conditions to increase their winter crop field profitability. For the 2023-2024 season, 5,000 acres were contracted across western Kentucky and western Tennessee. After a successful harvest, the program significantly expanded, achieving more than 35,000 acres contracted for the next crop year and is expanding into southern Illinois, southern Indiana, northern Alabama, northern Mississippi, eastern Arkansas and eastern Missouri.“We are excited about this program and hope to build on these promising results to meet consumers’ growing demand for renewable fuels, creating a more environmentally sustainable future – while driving additional revenue sources for farmers,” said Luis Copeland, Bunge’s Senior Director for Low Carbon Intensity Seeds. “We will add more delivery locations to provide farmers with more convenient options to transport their winter canola.”The harvested winter canola is processed at a Bunge facility for the production of oil, which can be used as feedstock to the growing renewable fuels industry.“We are proud of our unique partnership with Bunge and Corteva which allows us to cover the full value chain of the winter canola crop, from production to fuel,” said Stacey Orlandi, President of Chevron Renewable Energy Group. “Innovation and investment in the feedstock space is going to continue to be an important aspect for the future of the renewable fuels industry and collaborations like this one are helping to support growth of lower carbon intensity fuels for the market.”Read more: https://lnkd.in/dMckhUEr
